The Rawlings family have provided an excellent 'farm experience', to local people and schools for many years and in order to enhance a day out during poor weather wanted to include an indoor play area and with that a new catering facility.
Roland Allen designed and installed a new straight line servery to include the cold food offer displays and all the beverage equipment also a back bar preparation and cooking area with refrigerated storage.
The finished result is a bright and functional facility to match the play area and provide a comfortable food area for both parents and children.
Vanstone Garden Centre
The existing restaurant servery ( installed by Roland Allen some 25 years ago ) was now looking a little jaded and in need of an update and Roland Allen were instructed to provide some new ideas to the management at Vanstone. Various options were presented and finalised in consultation with the client approving the plan drawing and 3d visualisation.
The old servery was dismantled and removed from site, new flooring laid, new electrical services provided, a sweeping new servery installed with two back service areas, a free-form shape illuminated canopy and a walkway was created for staff access.
The bright new restaurant now provides both 'coffee and cake' or a full meal to it's customers throughout the year.
Harrods Food Hall
The client in conjunction with Harrods commissioned Roland Allen to design a new ‘Dim Sum’ bar in the main food court in one of the worlds most prestigious stores. Working with the client and architect we came up with a layout for an island providing two dim sum cooker/steamers, refrigerated and ambient storage and a cold drinks display. There is also a kitchen area to the rear with storage cooking and wash up facilities in a very tight space.
The whole project was a challenge working to Harrods specifications for stainless steel water pipes and copper waste to name but two. The work was also carried out over 10 nights during the stores closed hours with a multitude of trade on site at the same time. The end result provided superb offer for the discerning Harrods clientele.
Frances Bacon School
Working with the team at Francis Bacon School they wanted to provide a teaching facility that would reflect a commercial kitchen rather than a row of domestic appliances from the old domestic science days.
Roland Allen provided a double island of both gas and electric oven ranges with worktops and a perimeter run of preparation sinks and worktops, the air in and air out ventilation system provides a comfortable and safe environment this was also designed and installed as a bespoke unit for the school.
An excellent result was achieved working with the school and the builders on site to give the students a great opportunity to learn in a controlled but 'commercial' kitchen.
St Anne's Church Hall
The brief from the client was to provide a catering facility in the new extension for the use of the church groups and outside caterers for a variety of functions for the benefit of the community.
There were various ‘building’ challenges to overcome with regard to the site with gas and electric meters being in awkward places however these were resolved working with the architect and with the team of Ladies involved at the church.
The finished result is a small and functional kitchen with gas and electric cooking, storage and preparation that the parishioners can be proud of.
